"Helenistic Mysteries" Web-comic! Meet the creators! Part 1

Searching trough the vast highways of Internet, I came upon an interesting finding... It's a wonderful web-comic called Helenistic Mysteries, updated every Wednesday and you can find it here http://www.sunday-superheroes.com/HM001.html

Comics in Greece talked to the people behind this beautiful project and we 're happy to present you their interview! Here's part 1, where you have the chance to meet the artist Mark Howden!

1. Why have you decided to use the theme of Greek mythology for your web-comic?

When Bradley and I discussed working together, he gave me the choice of Greek Mythology or a Super Hero series. It was an easy decision to go with Mythology, as I have always had a fascination with all the Mythos, and let's face it all the modern day Super Hero stories owe something to Greek Mythology tales.

2. For how long do you plan to continue your story?

That's probably best answered by Bradley. I'm on board for issue one, and we'll see how well it is received by people when it's completed.

3. Mark, as artist, from where do you draw your inspiration? Is there an artist in the comics industry that you admire? Any influences?

My initial inspiration came from my grandfather. When I was a child he would often draw for me, and I was amazed that anything I suggested could be translated onto paper with a simple pencil and sheet of paper. Other influences came later when I began to read comic books. Stan Lee has always intrigued me. His characters with their real life problems were always interesting. I think any good stories have an element of tragedy or conflict.

4. What is your goal? Do you want someday to crowd fund your project? Do you want to see it published by a big company?

Some of my goals are being met by simply working with Bradley. It's always been a dream to work with a writer and try to visually represent his ideas through my drawings. I allowed my career to cloud my personal goals over the years, and I'm just happy to get back to what truly matters to me, creating. I do have my own concepts from 20 years ago that I would someday like to bring to life, so we'll see what the future holds.

5. Do you attend conventions? If so, describe us your feelings about it.

Conventions in Canada have only started to become mainstream in the last few years. I will attend some conventions next year. I think they are a great place to meet like minded people and an opportunity to meet the readers and get feedback.

6. Have you visited Greece? If you haven’t, is it in your plans?

I have had friends go to Greece, it looks like a beautiful place, full of culture and history. It's on my list of places to travel to in the future.
